Utility and Oil & Gas

Era Helicopters LLC operates in several locations across the State of Alaska, including from two satellite bases.

One base, located in Nikiski, provides air service to the offshore platforms in Cook Inlet. The second base is on Alaska’s North Slope, Prudhoe Bay.
Era not only supports the oil and gas industry on the Slope, but provides service for geological surveys, university studies concerning global warming and wildlife impact, state and government business and executive charter services. Era’s main office, located at Ted Stevens International Airport, houses our Alaska corporate offices and maintenance facility.

For 60 years, Era Helicopters LLC has established a reputation as an innovative pioneer in air operations. Today, Era incorporates a sophisticated array of electronics, fuel-efficient turbine engines and a wide range of specialized equipment options. Era Helicopters LLC also supports fire fighting operations, mining, environmental support and leases helicopters to third parties around the globe. Additionally, Era has extensive mountain flying experience and is an expert at landing in remote sites. The search for minerals has taken Era into Alaska’s most rugged and remote areas. Era has also served a vital role in hydro-electric dam and power line construction, concrete pouring, pole setting, transportation and assembly of heavy equipment and maintenance of mountaintop communication systems.

“Safe, Experienced and Ready to Fly”

First flight made with the AW-139 on the Exxon drilling project at Point Thompson.

The flight was made by Captain Jon Kirschbaum and Jay Miller. It was 2 pax outbound and 2 pax inbound. Customer loved the aircraft; they came out at point Thompson in the frigid cold to look at the aircraft. Since this flight the contract went to 24 hrs coverage.
